Our Cocoa

We use 100% Ecuadorian Arriba cacao, which bears the Camino Verde title, a title given only to the highest quality beans.

Arriba cacao is a rare variety that accounts for less than 2% of the global distribution.

Grown to organic standards, processed at a local factory, and then shipped directly to Japan.

This is high-quality, ethical cocoa that is produced without child labor or unfair labor.

Until the birth of Hare and Ke.

Story

As a nurse for about nine years, Madame Kaka deeply felt the importance of both mental and physical health.

While exploring natural foods and a holistic lifestyle, she discovered raw chocolate in 2013.
Enchanted by the "sense of fulfillment" she felt when eating it, she deepened her knowledge by traveling to 28 countries around the world. A turning point came during her trip to North America for the 2017 total solar eclipse, where the words "life is beautiful" and a cacao ceremony in the Oregon wilderness profoundly moved and opened her heart.

Afterward, a love affair and heartbreak in Bali led her to decide, "I want to leave a mark on my life in Japan," and in 2018, she began her raw chocolate business.

She continues to create energizing raw chocolate in the "Ashigaru Kumiyashiki," a designated cultural property in the castle town of Hikone, Shiga.
