Our Cocoa

We use 100% Ecuadorian Arriba cacao, which bears the Camino Verde title, a title given only to the highest quality beans.

Arriba cacao is a rare variety that accounts for less than 2% of the global distribution.

Grown to organic standards, processed at a local factory, and then shipped directly to Japan.

This is high-quality, ethical cocoa that is produced without child labor or unfair labor.

Story

During her nine years working as a nurse, Kaka Okami realized the importance of both mental and physical health.

I discovered raw chocolate in 2013 while exploring natural foods and holistic living.
Fascinated by the "sensation of satisfaction" she felt when eating, she traveled to 28 countries around the world to learn more, and during a trip to North America to experience the 2017 total solar eclipse, the words "life is beautiful" and a cacao ceremony in the Oregon wilderness were a turning point that moved her heart and opened her eyes.

After that, after falling in love in Bali, planning to move there, and then suffering heartbreak, she decided that she wanted to leave proof that she had lived in Japan, and so she started a raw chocolate business in 2018.

We continue to make energetic raw chocolate at the Ashigaru-gumi Yashiki, a designated cultural property in Hikone Castle Town, Shiga.
